Overview of Nicole Victoria Lauren

Nicole Lauren is an independent artist, exploring her way through music. She has themes that she tends to lean into in her music. Down-to-earth but sometimes goofy and with her head in the clouds, she does not have a specific genre of music that she is willing to commit to. However, the themes in her music that she is attracted to. You can see this in the use of string sounds and bass, in rhythms and in vocals. influenced by many popular and little known artists in many genres, she in influenced by R&B, Classical, Rock, Jazz, Singer-Songwriter and House music.
Key Themes in Her Lyrics
Guided by what she calls her Prima Voca or first voice, she is interested in sounds, lyrics and compositions that feel true to herself and the human experience. She prioritizes her production work based on that. So although one song may be a ballad like Toast to my friends, and the very next can be a purely instrumental Rain Deluge, the common thread is that they feel emotionally and/or intellectually sincere to that first voice, the one that speaks before there is time to analyze, prejudge or cover-up.
There are emotional music themes as well. Common threads include “connection,” “enduring storms in life,” “celebration,” and gratitude.
Song Highlights and Their Meanings
Sometimes it is easier to show a thing than to talk about it. The compilation below bring short snippets of several songs together to provide a fuller picture of what might be a distinctive sound or theme. I’m very excited about this first entry in our “Listening room” series and hope you enjoy it!
Impact of Themes on Listeners
The feedback I’ve received seems to have a theme as well. People commenting that they’ve listened to A toast to my friends over and over because the opening violins makes them feel at peace. That resonated with me as well, because I thought to back off on the violins but decided it was important to keep them as they were. Many have responded to Rain Deluge that it really did sound like a Thunderstorm to music. And that was what I was going for there. We are all connected and Dunkman (I can feel it) are both designed to some degree to make people feel like dancing around, in the latter, I really wanted to make use of the sitar sound as well. And the music themes are there to resonate, hopefully with cultures, ages, and backgrounds across the spectrum. Nobody has to like my music (I truly mean that) but everyone must feel invited and welcome! The music theme is: “Welcome! Stay as long as you’d like!”
